How to Apply for NYSC Exclusion Certificate

The exclusion certificate or letter, apart from discharge certificate and exemption letter, is one of the three certificates awarded to Nigerian graduates, either at home or abroad, by NYSC. This particular NYSC certificate, as the name suggests, is different from the others.

However, many Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) don’t know what it stands for. Some even mistake it to be an exemption letter, though out of ignorance.

In this post, those who don’t know what an exclusion letter represents and/or can’t differentiate it from the others, will learn everything there is to know about the NYSC exclusion certificate.

Meaning of NYSC Exclusion Certificate?

The NYSC exclusion certificate, as we know, is one of the three documents/awards/certificates NYSC does give out to Nigerian graduates. Unlike the others, this particular certificate is only meant for those who did part-time studies in any University in Nigeria or abroad.

As such, they are not called up for the one-year mandatory national service. Instead, they receive a letter of exclusion from NYSC.

Procedures to Apply for the NYSC Exclusion Certificate

Below are the steps to apply for your NYSC exclusion certificate:

Step 1

Your school will send your data to NYSC for uploading it to the NYSC registration portal. This list of graduating students is called the senate list.

Step 2

You will go for online registration at the same time those who are meant to serve are also registering. You’re to fill exactly the same form (information).

Step 3

After completing the online registration you won’t be given any document (as that is not available for the exclusion candidates). Only those who will be awarded a discharge certificate will be given the green card.

Step 4

You will return to print your exclusion letter when those who are to serve are printing their call-up letters online.
