How To Set Up Voicemail On iPhone

Setting up a voicemail system on your iPhone is essential. It helps ensure that a caller drops a message even if you miss a call.

According to Wikipedia, a voicemail system (also known as a voice message or voice bank) is a computer-based system that allows users and subscribers to exchange personal voice messages over a phone. It can also be used to select and deliver voice information, process transactions relating to individuals, organizations, products, and services.

Instruction On How To Set Up Voicemail On iPhone

Step 1

Open the phone app on your iPhone.

Step 2

Tap the “Voicemail” button positioned at the bottom right of your screen.

Step 3

Click the “Set Up Now” button positioned at the center of your screen.

Step 4

Enter your preferred choice of password.

Step 5

Re-enter your chosen password for confirmation.

Step 6

Tap the “Done” button.

Step 7

If you would like to use Apple’s default prerecorded message, tap the “Default” button and if you have a personalized message, tap the “Custom” button.

Step 8

If you choose to use Apple’s default prerecorded message and you already tapped “Default” as mentioned in step 7, simply tap the “Done” button to save your settings; but if you clicked on “Custom” for your personalized message, see step 9 for further instruction.

Step 9

Tap the “Record” button to record your message, click stop once you are done recording and click play to listen to your recording. You can try as much as possible until you get your desired result, just click the “Record” button again if you want to delete the previous recording and record another one.

Step 10

Once you are satisfied with your recording, tap the “Save” button positioned at the top right of your screen.

How to Listen to your Voicemail Messages

To access your voicemail and listen to your messages, do the following:

Visit the Voicemail tab in the Phone app. You’ll see a list of messages you’ve received as long as your carrier supports Visual Voicemail.

Step 2

Select a message and tap the Play button to listen to it. If your wireless carrier also supports the Voicemail Transcription feature, you’ll also see your message transcribed to text. This is handy for a quick view of the message.

Step 3

A few other buttons for the voicemail message will be displayed on the right side. Tap the speaker icon to hear the message in speaker mode, the phone icon to call the number back, or the trash can icon to delete the message.

Step 4

If you choose to share the message, a share button is displayed on the top right to send or share the message using your iPhone Share Sheet options.

Finally, you’ll have an info icon (small letter “i”) for details about the call or caller.
