Identifying your NYSC Call-Up Number

The NYSC call-up number remains a significant means of identification for corps members. But unfortunately, many Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) cannot identify their NYSC call-up number. Even the few who can identify it, do not actually know what it means or stands for.

Not to worry, you’ll get to know all there is to know about the NYSC call-up number by the time you’re through reading this content. Read on!

NYSC: What is a Call-Up Number?

A call-up number is a six (6) digit unique serial number assigned to every corp member after registering for the scheme. The number, just like your matriculation number in school, is what NYSC uses to identify you. You can’t share this number with any other person, even if you share the same name.

With your call-up number, NYSC is able to tell the school you graduated, the year you are mobilized, etc. And it appears on your Green-Card and Call-up letter. The number cannot be mistaken, stolen or lost.

An example of an NYSC Call Up Number is NYSC/UNN/2022/345987. The breakdown of this call-up number goes thus:

NYSC: Is National Youth Service Corps

UNN: This is the school code (University of Nigeria Nsukka).

2022: This is the year the corps member registered for NYSC

345987: This is the unique serial number of the corps member.

As you can see, this number gives a lot of information about a particular corps member, and it was what one would use for all registration and throughout the service.
